the deep rounded sides rising from a short splayed foot to a slightly lipped rim, covered overall with a lustrous black glaze, the interior with rows of russet striations, the glaze falling short of the foot to reveal the buff-colored stoneware body

Condition

The glaze with expected wear to the surface, including shallow frits to the rim and a few small areas of fine earth encrustation to the exterior from burial. With minor firing imperfections, including a network of fine cracks within the glaze, a small glaze gap to the interior (approx. 6 x 3 mm), and a piece of kiln grit to the well.
