Catalogue Note

A muraqqa' (album) folio with inner buff borders of lightly-toned salmon and cream color with flecked gold and floral designs. Outer natural-buff gold flecked borders with an ink and gold rosette.

A young Mughal prince holding a sharp spear in one hand while enjoying the fragrance of a small blossom. He wears a gold floral-design payjama under a diaphanous white muslin jama, yellow and gold patka, jewelry and a Mughal cap with gold bands and a feathered aigrette.  Standing on a very low horizon with the merest suggestion of a flower strewn landscape.  On a blue-green ground rising to a red streaked cloudy sky.
