A PARCEL-GILT BRONZE AND LACQUERED FIGURE OF BUDDHA,
LATE MING DYNASTY
cast seated in dhyanasana, the left hand held in dhyanamudra while the right hand lowered in bhumisparshamudra, clothed in long robes falling into neat folds bordered by scrolling lotus, the open chest engraved with a wan symbol above a ribbon-tied undergarment, the face with a benevolent expression flanked by long pendulous ears, the hair gathered in rows of tight curls covering the domed ushnisha, traces of blue and red lacquer
