comprised of one standing Buddha with a tall ushnisha, attached to later wood stand; one gilt-bronze Buddha standing against a mandorla atop a stand, cast as one piece; one gilt-bronze Buddha sitting on a lotus, installed on a later wood base; one gilt-bronze standing bodhisattva (4)

Condition

The largest statuette missing the hands; the surface with light corrosion and expected surface wear (as illustrated in the catalog); a modern metal tube cast-on under the skirt hem to stabilize the statuette) and the tube drilled with a screw inserted to affix the statuette to the wood stand); the back of the statuette painted in red with the number "31-16." The second-tallest statuette missing the fingertips of the right hand, as well as the inlaid stones, and the adornment that was attached to the knob at the back of the head; the base drilled for a stand; abrasion to the bronze surface and gilding. The seated Buddha statuette with abrasion to the bronze and gilding, and a break at the bronze base (stabilized); the base is drilled and affixed to a wood stand. The smallest statuette with expected wearing down of the surface and features from centuries of handling; a restored break at the top of the mandorla and to the front right leg of the stand; expected wear to the gilding. Please note that this lot includes a stand, frame or other component made from a type of Chinese hardwood, which, if exported, will require a CITES permit to leave the United States.
