AN ARCHAIC BRONZE RITUAL WINE VESSEL (GU)
SHANG DYNASTY
of waisted, cylindrical form with a wide trumpet mouth tapering to a slightly bulging belly and a flared foot, the belly cast in low relief with two pairs of bosses and a flange forming two taotie masks reserved on a leiwen ground, the foot similarly cast but without the flanges, the base interior cast with a three-character inscription
