Description

  • metal, wood stand(rosewood dalbergia)
of archaistic form, cast with a pear-shaped body, the shoulder flanked by a pair of Buddhist lion-mask handles suspending loose rings, the exterior decorated with four main registers enclosing large lotus blooms wreathed in scrolling foliage issuing curling leaves

Condition

The cloisonné with scattered small areas of restoration and spray, particularly near the join of the body to the foot. Expected surface wear and signs of aging, including slight darkening overall, minor pitting and scratches to enamels, and abrasion to gilt metal. "Geeo" written in blue on the base. Please note that this lot includes a stand, frame or other component made from a type of Chinese hardwood, which, if exported, will require a CITES permit to leave the United States.
