Description

  • nephrite, wood stand(rosewood dalbergia)
of flattened hu form, the neck flanked with a pair of tubular handles, carved around the belly with two taotie masks in relief over a leiwen ground all between two raised bands, the base with a gilt incised apocryphal six-character Jiaqing mark, mounted as a lamp

Condition

Lamp mounting includes openwork wood stand and purple beryl ornaments on the pull chains. Please note that this lot includes a stand, frame or other component made from a type of Chinese hardwood, which, if exported, will require a CITES permit to leave the United States. Drilled through the center 2 characters of a 6-character mark with associated abrasions around the drill hole on the base for mounting as a lamp. There are traces of wood varnish from the wood base that have adhered to the foot of the vase. The stone with extensive mottled brown inclusions and fissues, Light wear and small nicks to carving. The rim was not reduced but there are chips and abrasions with some rough edges.
