Description

  • PORCELAIN, wood stand (rosewood dalbergia)
of characteristic barrel form encircled by two bands of small bosses and set on each side with lion-mask ring handles, the top pierced with seven circular apertures, covered overall with a pale grayish-green glaze, the foot rim with brown dressing, the base with an apocryphal Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue, wood stand (2)

Provenance

Acquired between 1930-36, and thence by descent.

Condition

The vase is in overall good condition. There are tiny frits to the handles and raised bosses. One handle is slightly polished. Scattered minor chips to the foot. Some expected wear to the surface and minor firing imperfections. Please note that this lot includes a stand, frame or other component made from a type of Chinese hardwood, which, if exported, will require a CITES permit to leave the United States.
