each with an open-back frame formed by a straight toprail rounding the corners to the back posts, inset beaded border apron and spandrels carved with archaistic T-scrolls, the straight arms continuing down to form the front posts, the hardwood seat within a rectangular frame, surmounted by a lattice rail at the rear and sides, above a beaded and cusped apron extending to tapering flange brackets at the front and crescent-shaped aprons to the sides, the legs joined by stepped stretchers (2)

Condition

The chairs are in overall good condition. The joinery is slightly loose.There are patch repairs to the joins of one chair where the top rail meets the back posts. The other chair has a spliced repair to one back foot. There has been general consolidation, other minor repairs and wear consistent with age and use. Please note that this lot will require a CITES permit for export outside of the United States.
