Sotheby's London, 30 November 2009, lot 68 (£32,450)

Condition

The vacant area of the lower lid, one presumes, was originally enamelled or otherwise decorated, and this is now lacking. The edges of the surrounding enamel have been touched up. Also, there are traces of gilt around the border of the lid, suggesting the whole case may have been previously gilt.
