Condition
The canvas has been lined and the original tacking edges are missing. Craquelure is present throughout but is most visible in the skin and dress. There are scattered flecks of paint loss, notably to the forehead. There are areas of retouching throughout which are visible to the naked eye. Inspection under UV light reveals extensive restoration throughout the composition: to the background, the sitter's face, chest, hair and dress. Held in a painted frame with carved decorations. Unexamined out of frame.
