Condition
Original canvas. There is paint shrinkage and craquelure throughout and deep vertical cracks across the canvas. There are light frame abrasions along the edges. The varnish layer has discoloured and there is a layer of surface dirt with spots of dirt in places. Inspection under UV light reveals a jagged line of retouching to the foreground in the lower left, a small area to the right edge below the carpet and other minor scattered spots, notably around the date and the upper edge. Held in a gold painted wooden frame with decorative plaster mouldings. Unexamined out of frame.
