Acquired by the grandfather of the present owner, a former colonel in the White Army, in Paris in the 1930s
Condition
Venice
There are frame abrasions along all four edges with some associated paint loss. There are several areas of fine craquelure. The surface is covered in a layer of dirt and there are spots in places. Inspection under UV light does not reveal any apparent signs of retouching.
Held in a gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
Street Scene
The work is double-sided. There are pinholes in each of the corners. There are frame abrasions along all four edges with some associated paint loss. There is a small puncture to the board in the centre right. Visible in places are surface scratches. The surface is covered in a layer of dirt with spots in places. Inspection under UV light does not reveal any apparent signs of retouching. Held in a gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
