Condition

The sheet has been laid down on board. The edges and corners of the board are slightly worn and there are dents and minor losses to the board in places. There is a pinhole in the centre of the left and right edges. The varnish layer is slightly uneven and there is some scattered staining in the sitter's arms and chest and the green drapery above her head. There are a few light scratches and abrasions to the surface. The watermark of the paper manufacturer is just visible along the right edge of the sheet. Inspection under UV light reveals spots of restoration to places at the edges. Other minor spots are scattered throughout the composition, such as the bed sheets, along the outline of the sitter's right thigh and between here legs. Held in a gilt stepped wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
