Condition

Original canvas which is buckling slightly in places. Minor frame abrasions are visible at the edges. There is scattered craquelure, notably to the black background and to the areas of white impasto as well as areas of paint shrinkage in the grey. In the bone on the far right there are two minor paint chips corresponding to the cracks in the upper part and the craquelure is lifting in the lower left of the same bone. There is a light layer of surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals some scattered retouching, notably to the area below the left and central bones. Held in a modern frame with a canvas slip. Unexamined out of frame.
