Condition

Overall measurements; 44cm across the top, 45cm across the bottom, 49cm the left hand side, 49cm the right hand side. Dense evenly sheared 2mm pile overall. Genttle abrash in the dark cream coloured ground. Short horizontal weaving fault in the bottom right hand corner (between the flower and the leaves in the corner) and it is not with the dark area as visible in the photograph. Minimal flatweave and fringing, not overlocked at each end. Reovercast side cords. Overall good condition. Charming piece.

Catalogue Note

The looms of Kirman occasionally produced pile weavings designed for use as covers for seat furniture and cushions, of which the present lot, with its design reminiscent of Persian lacquer ware, is a delightful example.
