Condition
Trimmed within the subject, on fine laid paper, at the left leaving 6 mm. of subject to the left of tree stump at lower left, so that some of the hatched area of sky and blank space framing it is lost; on the lower edge to the water ripples at the lower left; on the right so that there remain 5 mm. between the right edge of the rightmost figure's pipe and the sheet edge, losing some of the hatched area of the sky and the blank space framing it; trimmed into the platemark at the top but well outside the subject; a surface paper loss, touched in with pen and black ink on the left calf of the furthermost figure to the right; a small re-touched surface loss on the tree stump lower left; a small surface loss across the lower left leg of the satyr, third figure from the right; the central tree stem behind Silenus extended in pen and ink; a small paper plugged circular loss towards the lower sheet edge; a small repair at the lower right corner tip; some paper thinning and surface abrasions showing up white towards the sheet corners and edges; a central vertical fold, ruptured in places; surface discolouration and soiling to be expected in paper of this age; lesser defects
