Woodcut, circa 1498, a good, clear Meder c impression though showing slight wear to the flames and wheel to the left, on paper with a Small Crest with Cross and Trimount watermark (M. 151), framed

Condition

Trimmed slightly unevenly on the borderline, an unobtrusive, vertical approx. 80mm. repaired tear extending from the lower sheet edge to area between the torturer's legs, two further, shorter horizontal repaired tears at the left sheet edge extending approx. 40mm. and 25mm into subject, a small repair to the very bottom of St. Catherine's robe, a few further minor repaired nicks and very short tears mainly along the lower sheet edges, a few minor, unobtrusive touching-ins in pen and black ink associated with these skilfully repaired tears, the gap in the topmost mountain corner touched-in with pen and black ink, lesser defects
