Description

  • Walker Evans
  • Palumbo Public Ice-Fuel Corp. Truck, New York
  • gelatin silver print
mounted, signed and with title, date, and annotation in pencil on the mount, circa 1934, printed in 1971 (Keller 199)

Condition

This crisp, detailed print is in generally excellent condition. Upon close inspection, there is a tiny impression near the right standing figure and a deposit of original retouching near the left standing figure's feet. There is the slightest silvering along the black margin edges. There is a clamp impression from processing in each margin corner. There is minor wear to the emulsion along the margin edges. There is a thin excess of dry-mounting tissue at the periphery of the print. The edges and corners of the mount are slightly worn. 'Two Men in Front of Fuel Trucks, NYC, 1934' and 'Printed 1971. J.D.' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil on the mount. There are a few faint creases on the reverse of the mount.
