Condition

These prints are in generally excellent condition. In raking light, scattered deposits of original retouching, a few faint scratches, and tiny impressions that do not break the emulsion are visible overall. There is some very minor soiling on the reverse of the mounts as well as insignificant edge wear. -'Hands of Annette Rosenshine,' c. 1932, printed in 1976: '24-0538/ is written in an unidentified hand on the reverse. Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. Our dating of this print is based upon the authors' assessment of the use dates of stamp 11 on the reverse of the mount: 1973 through 1977. -'Gottardo Piazzoni in his studio,' 1932, printed circa 1970: '24-0586' is written in an unidentified hand in pencil on the reverse. Although Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career, the Carmel studio stamp on the reverse of the present mount is not included. The stamp, similar to BMFA 11, but with the zip code '93923,' is dated with both the negative and printing dates in an unidentified hand in ink. -'Old California St. Firehouse,' circa 1933, printed in 1974: '24-0584' is written in an unidentified hand in pencil on the reverse.
