Catalogue Note

‘Elui, son of Nzenge Mkambo from Voi’ appeared on the front cover of Beard’s seminal publication on Africa, The End of the Game (1965). Whilst working at the Tsavo National Park during the 1960s, Beard created this publication, combining his own photography and writing with historical texts. This image captures the essence of this publication and is a poignant testimony to the considerable and irreparable damage done by man in Africa.
