Catalogue Note

This early daguerrian plate showing Marseille could be attribuated to Horace Vernet, friend of Frédéric Chassériau and also known for his view of the harbour of Marseille or by the first atelier of daguerreotype in Marseille, atelier Desmonts that opened in 1842 at 38 de la rue Saint-Ferréol.
