The canvas has a firm relining and the varnish appears somewhat uneven and a little discoloured. There are some surface scuffs and scratches visible, and some retouched losses scattered throughout. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals scattered restorations throughout, the most concentrated areas of which are in the shadows in the back of the figure, in His left lower thigh and leg, and in the rock on which He sits, as well as along the lower and right margins. The head and torso of Christ are relatively free from intervention. Offered in a black and gilt painted frame with some losses in overall fair condition.
