Anonymous sale, London, Christie's, 9 December 2005, lot 181, where purchased by the present owner.
Condition
The canvas is lined, the paint surface is in reasonable condition but has suffered from some abrasion in the sky and parts of the buildings and dunes. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals old restoration to disguise these areas as well as to some scattered minor losses across the sky. The majority of the picture remains reasonably well-preserved. Offered in a later gilt wood frame in good condition.
