Condition
This painting is in overall very good condition. It is unclear as to whether the canvas has been lined or not, though the appearance of the reverse suggests that it has. The paint surface is relatively clean and the varnish appears even. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals very minor, minimal retouching in the tree, upper left, and the rocks behind the figures, but otherwise little intervention. Offered in a later brown Dutch style frame with ripple moulding, in very good condition.
