Condition

In overall fair condition. The canvas has an old relining, the paint surface is dirty and the varnish is slightly discoloured. There are some areas of retouching visible to the naked eye, to disguise small losses in the sitter's neck, chin, nostril and around his eyes. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals these aforementioned areas, as well as small retouchings scattered in the sitter's habit and in the background. Offered in a painted and gilt wood frame with a decorative border in good condition with some wear.
