Condition

The canvas has been relined, the paint surface is dirty and the varnish is slightly discoloured. There are small areas of wear in several parts of the canvas with associated retouchings. These are predominantly in the background on the right-hand side and fluoresce under ultraviolet light. Other small areas of retouchings are visible under ultraviolet light, scattered in the basket of oysters in the lower right-hand corner and in the windowsill upper left. The canvas appears to be otherwise largely untouched and for a painting of this size is in good condition. Offered in a plain wood frame with minor losses.
