Condition

In overall good condition. The panel is made up of two horizontal planks, which are uncradled and slightly bowed. The paint surface is relatively clean and the varnish is slightly discoloured. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals tiny, delicate and skilfully-rendered retouchings throughout the painting, running horizontally across the wood grain. There is also a line of retouching along the panel join, and to a secure, horizontal old split, which runs from the upper right corner to the centre of the panel. Offered in a plain dark wood frame in very good condition.
