Condition

Overall the condition of the ivory is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age, including some dust in the crevices. There is minor stable splitting to the ivory, consistent with the material, notably to the terrasse and the figure's proper left side. There is minor glue residue to the walking stick at the top and at the bottom. The ebonised wood base is in good condition with wear and dirt consistent with age, including rubbing at the edges and evidence of past worming throughout.
