Description

  • Box
  • chiselled steel, with a gilt silver interior
  • French, circa 1700

Condition

Overall, the condition of the box is very good, with minor dirt and wear to surface consistent with age. There is particular whitish dirt in the crevices. There are some minor nicks and scratches to the metalwork, in particular to the edges of both halves. The top edge is very slightly warped, making the box slightly stiff to open. The silver gilt interior is in very good condition, with only a few minor scratches to the surface. There is some wear around the inner rim of the lid, where it meets the other half of the box.
