Condition
Overall, the condition is very good, with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are some minor nicks and scratches to the surface, in particular to the edge of the rim. There is also a minor stable fissure to the rim. There are some further scratches to the handle and the underside. There is greening to the inside of the bowl, consistent with the material and use.

Catalogue Note
The present bucket with elaborate foliate decoration, interspersed by coats of arms, would have once been accompanied by an 'aspergillum', or sprinkler. Compare to a holy water bucket in the Victoria and Albert Museum (inv. no. 494-1883).
