Description
- Relief with Saint Ferdinand III of Castile

- Spanish, late 16th/ early 17th century
inscribed: DNS MIHI ADIVTOR to the banner and: SANCTVS FERDINAND / HISPANIAE REX SARA / CENOR...TER RORA / C(?)REL
Condition
Overall, the condition of the alabaster is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is an area of restoration to the top right corner of the relief, which has possibly been replaced. There appears to be a well-restored break running horizontally across the centre of the relief, and possibly another one running across the bottom right corner. The Saint's head has been reattached, and there is a loss to his proper right hand. His attribute is also lost, leaving partially covered metal pins inserted in the background of the relief. There is wear to the gilding and polychromy throughout, in particular at the high points. There is a small loss to the bottom of the sceptre, and there are further areas of restoration to the bottom left corner and some minor restorations to the top left corner. There are a few minor chips around the edges.
