Condition

Overall, the condition of the ivory is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is some stable splitting to the ivory, consistent with the material, which is particularly visible at the top and to the underside of the group. There are two small wood inserts held in place by glue to either side of the skeleton on the left hand side of the group. There is an area of wear to the underside which partially obscures the inscription.
