  • Plaque with a Stylised Skull
  • ivory, with remnants of polychromy
  • Japanese, 19th century

Condition

The ivory has significantly darkened, consistent with age and the material. There are traces of polychromy around the eyes and mouth. There are minor chips and scratches, in particular to the edges and corners. There is a chip to the outer circle around the skull at the bottom. There is veining to the reverse. Otherwise the condition is stable.
