Sale, New York, Sotheby's, 20 January 1982, lot 101

Condition

Hinge mounted in a number of places to an old sheet of paper, which has in turn been adhered down to another sheet. The sheet has discolored somewhat and there are a number of small tears and nicks to the sheet, particularly to the lower, right and upper edges. There are a number of localized brown stains to the sheet and evidence of surface dirt throughout. The pen and ink has eaten away at the sheet in the areas where it has been most densely applied, such as the rocks, lower left and lower center. The medium remains in otherwise stable condition with the image strong. Sold in a painted and giltwood frame.
