Catalogue Note
Though many drawings have over the years been attributed to Salomon van Ruysdael, there are no documentary drawings that can be given to him with certainty, so his drawing style remains the subject of much debate. In terms of composition, this drawing is, at least, very consistent with Salomon's works of the early 1630s, and there seems no reason not to take the proposed attribution seriously.
