  • Portraits of a lady and gentleman, three-quarter length, within drawn frames
  • Black chalk and gray wash;
    inscribed, in brown ink, below each portrait, with the names of the sitters: fran...doret... and catarina doria

Catalogue Note

This unusual sheet probably records a pair of painted portraits.  The figure types and costumes are reminiscent of certain Anglo-Dutch artists in the orbit of Van Dyck, such as Adriaen Hanneman, but no directly related paintings have yet been identified.
