Description

  • French School, late 17th century
  • Study of an owl, standing on an elaborate floral branch
  • Pen and brown ink:
    bears old numbering, verso: 1109
    and illegibly inscribed

Condition

Laid down on paper. The ink has sunk in places and there are some losses to areas of the owl's plumage. There are a number of black stains to the upper left quarter and an old horizontal crease across the centre of the sheet and evidence of old water staining to the upper left quarter. The image remains reasonably strong.
