Description

  • porcelain, silver-gilt
  • 8.6cm., 3 3/8 in. wide
of rectangular form, the cover finely painted with a scene of The judgement of Paris, with Venus, Minerva, Juno and Cupid, the interior of the cover with Hyperion and the Moon behind, the sides and undersides with figures in landscapes within moulded scrollwork borders,

Possibly bought by Charles Pierrepont, 1st Earl Manvers (1737 - 1816);
Thence by descent. 

Condition

There is a flat chip to the inside edge of cover, typical wear to underside of box. The box could possibly be by another factory other than Frankenthal.
