Purchased by Charles Pierrepont, 3rd Earl Manvers for Thoresby Hall circa 1870 during the renovation of the house by Anthony Salvin;
By family tradition inherited by the 3rd Earl's second son Evelyn Pierrepont;
By descent to his son Gervas Pierrpont, later 6th Earl Manvers, returned to Thoresby Hall on his accession to the Earldom;

Condition
A piece which retains an attractive presence. Marks and scratches consistent with age, the lining possibly later. Tarnishing to some of the mounts and some superficial cracks to the veneer also consistent with age. Some overall movement to the legs.
