on spreading circular foot, the bell-shaped body applied with two narrow bands enclosing a slightly later engraved coat-of-arms and baroque cartouche

Most probably purchased by Sir John Trevor, M.P. (circa 1637 – 1717) for Brynkinalt Hall, Denbighshire;

Condition
Hallmarks struck well and clearly below rim of body, the cover also fully marked. The cover with a few old repairs, visible to inside with pitting evident on the exterior. A few small bruises also. Cover fits loosely to the body.The cup of good gauge, the engraving in good crisp condition. Some areas of scratching and pitting to the body. Gilding of good rubbed colour to body, worn more to high points. The cover probably re-gilded or 'flashed' when old repairs carries out.
