with silk-embroidered panels; with label 'ON Villa' on the underside
Provenance
Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna of Russia (1822–1892), later Queen Olga of Württemberg, a gift from her father Tsar Nicolas I (1796-1855) on occasion of her marriage to Crown Prince Karl Friedrich Alexander of Württemberg (1823-1891) in 1846.
Condition
This charming piece is in reasonable original condition. The inner lining is worn and torn, the bronzes are tarnished and would greatly benefit from cleaning. One mount to the top is missing; one gilt-bronze foot, broken, is detached but present; one scroll on the base joining the feet is partially lose but secure. A few sparse cracks to the veneer.
