- 134cm. high, 73cm. wide, 48cm. deep; 4ft. 4¾in., 2ft. 4¾in., 1ft. 7in.
the superstructure with a moulded backplate centred by a porcelain portrait medallion of Alexander the Great, above two shelves and two short drawers, the lower part with a hinged fold-out writing surface above a frieze drawer, on cabriole legs with cast chutes and sabots, overall mounted with gilt-bronze borders and decorations; one drawer with inventory labels 'H. V. v. W. G. v. R. Privat-Eigentum No. 1748' and 'P. E. v. W. Privat-Eigentum' and label 'O.N.'
Provenance
Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna of Russia (1822–1892), later Queen Olga of Württemberg; apparently a gift from her brother Alexander, the later Tsar Alexander II (1818-1881)
Condition
In reasonable original condition, with marks and scratches consistent with age and use. There are losses to the veneer especially to the front drawer. The bronzes are tarnished and might benefit from a light clean according to taste. The writing surface with original green velvet lining with lifting to the borders and torn at the junctures. An attractive piece that is ready to place.
