Condition

This impressive corner cupboard is in overall good condition, with marks and scratches consistent with age and use, and traces of old woodworm which appears to be no longer active. Some minor losses to the mahogany, most notably along the outer borders and on the border between the two sections. It has been re-varnished at some point in its history. The carved frieze with some old repairs and additions, in particular to the upper moulded borders and to the central carved frieze, which is later. The two later friezes with traces of previous gilding. The moulded s-scroll on the upper-right border with some movement. The lower section with losses, most notably to the veneer on the sides and to the frieze above the two doors, with traces of a moulded border that is now missing. Some superficial stains and discolouration. The gilt-bronze escutcheons with an attractive patina; the locks, both in good working order, have retained their original key.
