Description

  • glass
comprising a German engraved Royal Armorial goblet and cover, probably Potsdam, with the coat-of-arms of Great Britain used by George I, II and III, the reverse with the order of the garter, the knopped cover, the funnel bowl, teared baluster stem, and foot all cut with bands of stiff leaves, 29.6cm., 11 5/8 in. high;
an armorial goblet engraved with the arms of the Barons Frohberg of Alsace, the funnel bowl with tiered solid base on tiered inverted baluster stem on domed foot, 24.2cm., 9 1/2 in. high;
a diamond-point engraved beaker and cover, decorated with a medallion of a male and female profile with partially legible script 'Gerh[ard]: Edler V. Meinertzhagen H.R.R. Ritter geb. 1682, 11 apr und Sara[h] Elis[abeth] Schluiter: 1693, 2 april.', the reverse side with a medallion containing their family armorials and verses from the bible; separated by flower branches and small winged insects, the base engraved with a moth specimen, gilded rims, 16.5cm., 6 ½ in. high;
a Bohemian goblet and a cover, circa 1700, with facet cut bowl, baluster stem, folded foot, 33cm., 13in. high;
a Bohemian goblet, early 18th century, the detachable facet cut bowl with glass screw fixture at faceted knop of stem, conical foot, 22.8cm., 9in. high;
a pair of Bohemian gilded wine glasses and two covers, circa 1730-40, of faceted form, the bowls gilded with a vignette of a gentleman in a landscape, the other with a lady, within scrolled foliage, the covers gilded with floral trails, faceted stems, conical feet, 23cm., 9in. high

Condition

The German engraved goblet, probably Potsdam, top of finial appears to be ground down, chip to inside rim of glass, approximately 2-3mm deep, and two minute chips to rim. Very faint traces of crizzling to bowl. Overall in good condition; The armorial goblet with arms of Barons Frohberg of Alsace, there is significant crizzling to glass throughout, a section of the foot has been broken into five pieces and repaired; The diamond point engraved beaker and cover, is in good condition; The bohemian goblet and a cover, minute chip to edge of finial and minor chipping to stem; The goblet with detachable bowl, bolt of bowl section with sizeable chip, roman numeral VII visible of both pieces at join, one of which is partially lost due to chip, cover lacking, foot slightly off-centre; The pair of goblets are in good condition.
