Description

  • Susannah and the Elders
  • oil on canvas

Condition

The canvas has a rather heavy lining, the paint surface is slightly dirty, and the varnish is only slightly discoloured and slightly uneven. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals areas of retouching throughout Susannah's flesh tones and around her turban. There are scattered small areas of retouching in the robes of the leftmost Elder, and tiny spot retouchings in the forehead of the more central Elder. There are larger areas of retouching in the background and in the upper left and right corners. In overall good condition.
