Description

on an ivory veneered and ebonised wood base

Condition

They have both been detached and re-glued. The attribut in Dejanira's proper left hand is partly missing. Her right upraised arm reattached in two places and reattached with yellow traces of old glue visible. Remains of glue visible to Dejanira's proper right side as well, where Nessus is grasping her. Nessus' body is composed of three attached elements and his front and rear legs and tail are carved separately. His left rear leg is reattached with a visible fissure and plug, tail also reattached. The veneered ivory terrace with some losses and other lifting up. A few minor scratches and chips to the edges of the ebonized wooden base.
