Description
- Ebony
with palm and foliate carved decoration, the front tapering legs and outswept rear legs ending in brass cappings and castors
Provenance
Probably acquired by Susan Georgiana Ramsay, Marchioness of Dalhousie (1817-1853)
Condition
Overall a very well executed chair in good condition. There are minor areas of conservation to age cracks to the left arm and shoulder and some minor movement along the lines of construction. The left return and left lower back has some damage to the caning which may benefit form professional attention according to taste. The castors are possibly later and have caused some minor chips and losses to the feet. With old marks and scratches as to be expected from age and use.
