Catalogue Note

Rachmaninov wrote out this famous melody on the occasion of his first important concert in America, playing this work with the Boston Symphony under Max Fiedler.  The owner of the album was a piano manufacturer, whose instruments are praised by several of the contributors; his grandfather was the hymnist Lowell Mason (1792-1872).
