Catalogue Note
This is a complete, if brief, "Vivace" by Berlioz, assigned work number 127 in the New Berlioz Edition. This manuscript relates closely to six concerts that Berlioz conducted in London for the New Philharmonic Society, in which Silas and Sivori were important participants. On 24 March 1852, Camillo Sivori (whose quotation appears on the verso) led the orchestra and Silas played the piano in a performance of Beethoven's Triple Concerto. The concert at the Exeter Hall also included four movements from Berlioz's "Symphonie dramatique" Roméo et Juliette. This manuscript is illustrated on page 13.
